Michele deLong
At the age of nine, I
began making silver jewelry with my mother in Pennsylvania.
In high school I majored in art and began selling my work. I
enrolled at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and recieved my
basic art background. I then studied at Tylor Art School,
Temple University, Philadelphia under Stanley Lechtzin and
Philadelphia College of Art with Olaf Skoogfars. During that
time I apprenticed with Naomi Davis in her
studio.
I have shown my work
at th American Craft Gallery in New York City, the Art Alliance in
Philidelphia and various San Francisco and Seattle Galleries.
In 1993 I participated in a three person show with my son,
Christopher Sutton, a photographer, and my mother, Jeanne deLong,
an accomplished jeweler and weaver.
I am inspired
by nature and primitive art forms from around the world. I
take great pride in the fact that I design and create each piece of
Jewelry by hand in my studio on Orcas Island.
